The Role…
We are looking for a talented and passionate Marketing Copy Editor to work across the Soho House Group, including our retail brands, to join our team in the UK Support Office in London. This is a full-time maternity-cover role reporting to the Global Head of Content, operating as a shared resource to Content, Marketing, Retail and the global business’s BAU needs.
We are looking for a capable and talented writer with excellent organisational and communication skills. This role is key to how Soho House and our satellite brands are perceived and engaged with internally and externally.
This is an exciting and varied role that requires a pro-active and capable individual who thrives in a fast paced and dynamic environment, remaining calm under pressure.
Main Duties…
  • Writing and managing marketing copy about Soho House, from announcements about new Houses, news about existing Houses, to restaurant openings and member event descriptions
  • The candidate will be acutely aware of Soho House’s two audiences – members and public – and be able to shape copy accordingly
  • Manage a junior copy writer in the London support office and advise global marketing content teams also
  • Writing and editing copy for Soho House email communications
  • Writing and editing any app/digital copy requirements for new functionality or launches
  • Overseeing and writing internal collateral for our global Houses and staff, for instance handbooks
  • Writing copy for public email communications across Soho House restaurants, Townhouse bedrooms and Soho House partner brands as required e.g. Quentin Restaurants, Soho Works, Cinema, Retail and House Gym
  • All Soho House web copy for new site launches, initiatives and projects
  • Web copy for sohohouse.com and individual House/restaurant/hotel websites - including bedroom descriptions for booking engine
  • Writing website copy about existing Soho House properties
  • Writing marketing copy for member website - e.g. member bedroom offers and House Perks
  • Content for on-site marketing channels including printed collateral such as House Facts, televisions in hotel bedrooms
  • Writing and managing marketing copy for Soho Home and Cowshed, including website, email, print collateral.
  • Delivering new stories for Soho Home and Cowshed sites and contributing to weekly ideas and sign off meetings.
  • Generating and producing ideas for marketing & ecomm content to be used across Soho Home and Cowshed channels – the website, email and social, POS, and wholesale instore.
  • Overseeing and or writing one to two emails for both Soho Home and Cowshed per week.
  • Act as first point of contact for all copy requirements from the Soho Home marketing, ecomm and design teams, closely supported by the Group Head of Content.
  • Working with the digital marketing teams across House and retail to provide copy for paid social
  • Working with the subs team to ensure that all written copy is accurate, consistent and in-line with the style guide
  • You will be expected to respond to a mix of specific briefs, and more creative briefs that will require you to collaborate with the wider content team and creative team members such as the picture editor and creative production team
  • Assisting the social team with general copy and writing ad copy for search and social campaigns
  • Continuously evolving TOV strategy, standards and best practices to ensure we remain leaders in our field, in collaboration with Managing Editor and Head of Content
  • Point of contact for the membership communications team members around copy and tone
  • Will be a natural writer with a minimum 3-5 years of copywriting experience.
  • Be highly motivated, proactively coming to the table with ideas, insights and thoughtful input for overall brand objectives.
  • Be able to apply a clear and consistent tone of voice across all Soho House content, communications, and retail ensuring that site copy is free of errors and on-brand.
  • Have an invaluable eye for detail and an eye-catching or engaging strapline.
  • Have excellent time management skills.
  • Have the ability to prioritise, work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines, often juggling projects across multiple stories or projects.
  • Be an unflappable, can-do attitude in a highly energised and deadline-driven environment.
  • Be proficient in using Content Management Systems, Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Understand digital content creation and processes including SEO and meta-data
  • Have the diplomacy and confidence to work across global business divisions with editors, general managers and events managers at all levels
  • Proven interest across our key areas, including food and drink, travel, interiors, and culture.
