Marketing & Social Media Strategist

Sew This First is looking for a Marketing & Social Media Strategist to join our team! This is a multi-faceted position within an emerging independent crafts company. The ideal candidate is creative, motivated, organised, and loves to sew.

About Sew This First:
We are an emerging, independent sewing pattern company based in Southend-On-Sea, UK. Sew This First’s mission is to create professionally drafted, easy to use sewing patterns that will elevate our customer’s wardrobes while expanding their skill set. The Art of customisation and sustainability is of the upmost importance to us. We are looking for someone to join our team to help with the growth and commitment to education.

Sew This First is a small company working together to accomplish our individual and group goals in a fun, relaxed, and supportive environment.

The Marketing & Social Media Strategist will work directly with our Founder as well as our Production Manager and Graphic Designer on a daily basis. As such, we value collaboration, we believe in giving the space and autonomy needed for our employees to make each job their own.

Main Duties
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Play a key role in developing and maintaining Sew This First’s marketing strategy and public voice across our various social media and blog platforms
  • Develop social media strategies to increase Sew This First brand awareness, engagement, to increase likes and followers on Instagram and conversion rates to income
  • Develop, plan and manage the Sew This First editorial calendar, which is used for our blog, social media & newsletter
  • Create content in the form of text and photos for our media channels
  • Develop and write the brand's Instagram page (posts, comments, DM responses)
  • Assemble and send out weekly newsletter emails etc
  • Plan and manage a scheduled calendar for social media posts
  • Interact with our customers through our blog and social media channels
  • Maintenance and running of the brand’s website
  • Assist in the management of the e-commerce
  • Research relevant influencer profiles
  • Develop and deliver on the influencers marketing strategy and implementation
  • Develop strategies for collaborations with influencers
Responsibilities will be given from the very beginning


The Ideal Candidate Should:
  • Possess a love of fashion and/or garment sewing and a desire to share that love with others
  • Have experience working with home sewing patterns is desirable but not essential
  • Have the ability to style, photograph and edit photos
  • Be proficient in using social media, including Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest
  • Possess strong planning, written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain multiple projects at once
  • Have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Have a working familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite
We are open to both freelance and part time candidates, ranging from 15 to 25 hours per week with a payment that is negotiable depending on experience. We are flexible to make this work for the right candidate. This job is local to Southend-On-Sea, but as a freelance role you are able to work from your own office studio with weekly meetings.
