The Office Group is seeking a passionate, collaborative and highly driven Middleweight Interior Designer, to join our Design and Development team. As a Middleweight Interior Designer you will be a champion for design quality, brand alignment and customer experience. You will aspire to deliver workspaces that enhance our customer experience, ensuring a high standard of design integrity within each project.
The ideal candidate will ensure new acquisitions are test-fit in accordance with brand standards, adapting to each building's Individual merits, opportunities and challenges, to create inspirational workspaces. You will also be able to take ownership of the entire alteration design journey; liaising with both our new and existing Residents (our customers) to capture their brief, create a considered design that reflects the style and constraints of the existing building and working closely with our internal project managers to deliver workspaces that meet their promise.
Briefing: help generate design direction ideas with a fresh approach to work workplace design; Brand alignment and customer experience are key drivers
Concept Design: able to understand, articulate and critique strong design concepts
Support programme and cost review, to help maintain design quality and brand alignment
Checking and monitoring projects through design development, site and completion
Support review of documentation from external design and construction teams
Attend site visits, when required, and support production of building analysis documentation to understand building opportunities and constraints
Produce testfits, in conjunction with key stakeholders, ensuring metrics are met and aligned to Brand experience
Refurbishments - understand, record and be able to communicate the brief, attend site visits and prepare analysis to support the appropriate refurbishment strategy; Brand alignment and customer experience are key drivers
Client Alterations - Undertake client consultation, when required, record the brief, create design intent presentations and drawing packages for client alterations to be costed and constructed.
Be able to manage the client’s expectations in line with building constraints, be it M&E, occupancy, fire strategy, design quality, cost, etc.
Track record of working In the UK as an Interior Designer, delivering design-led projects, ideally with experience of the workplace sector.
Understanding, if not experience, of the flexible workspace sector
Experience in the hospitality, retail or entertainment sectors advantageous
Good technical understanding of UK regulations, including building control and fire regulations
Proven experience of working alongside clients to define a brief
Proficient in creating design packages and presentations
Experience selecting and specifying design materials and finishes
Understanding of building construction techniques, base build and fit-out
Knowledge of shell and core, CAT A and CAT B definitions
Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical services for commercial environments
Strong technical detailing capability with construction level detailing experience
On site experience, working with contractors and sub-contractors
Good space planning experience
Knowledge of commercial FF&E market
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Design software familiarity, ideally including Revit and Adobe Suite Packages
MS Office (Word and Excel)
A strong design eye with good technical and detailing experience
Ability to work efficiently under pressure, across multiple projects in an entrepreneurial and dynamic environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good business acumen and commercial understanding.
