Partner Manager - CommerceThe Telegraph


The Telegraph's lifestyle commerce team are in need of a Partner Manager to support and drive the growth of nominated Commerce businesses, from the sale of products and services to Telegraph customers.
You will manage allocated Commerce categories to achieve your budget, improving sales and building strong working relationships with your partners in order to develop you categories.
You will be driven by unlocking the potential of your categories through analysis of the numbers and you will enjoy creating innovative marketing ideas to promote your category across The Telegraph’s media properties including print, digital, events, and other marketing channels. You will work closely with our partners to optimise the product and improve the product range.
The Telegraph Commerce Team leverages the Telegraph’s Editorial content assets by developing lifestyle offerings around them such as Garden Shop, Book Shop, Ticket Shop, Shop, Puzzles, Dating and others, which are all promoted under the Telegraph brand and supported by multi-channel marketing activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Revenue and profit responsibility: managing budgets and P&L for designated categories to achieve pre-agreed targets
  • Managing business performance: monitor business performance and implement activities to improve performance
  • Partner management: build strong working relationships with partners that support and deliver lifestyle category offers, build effective commercial agreements with partners and manage them proactively
  • Marketing: Oversee and manage marketing plan to drive customer acquisition and retention through the most effective channels, work with teams to create marketing proposals, creative briefing and advertising sign off to tight deadlines
  • Product and Category development: manage and ensure that we have the right product offer for Telegraph audiences in the allocated lifestyle categories.
  • Review partner proposals, research and decide whether they fit with the brand and target market
  • Get involved in launching new Commerce offerings, in close collaboration with the rest of the team
  • Analyse key drivers impacting performance of your business and develop action plans to increase revenue and profitability
  • Oversee and manage a full marketing schedule for your category including print and digital ads, supplements, inserts, events and work with marketing, branding and design to make sure they are delivered according to deadlines
  • Manage contractual compliance of our partners and ensure we are generating the maximum value for both parties.
  • Work with partners to maximise sales of existing products and to build new products where you have identified gaps
  • Work with key teams to optimise performance e.g. Creative, CRM, SEO, Editorial team, advertising operations, development, IT, etc.
  • Review and enhance the digital offering with our partners including effective search optimisation and onsite merchandising
  • Implement and oversee A/B tests, working closely with the tech team to ensure alignment with business goals
  • Communicate new initiatives and key wins with the team
  • Work with other commerce managers to share ideas and growth plans and explore cross sell opportunities
  • Forecasting, tracking and reporting on performance to the business
  • Analysing industry trends and reviewing competitor, and spotting gaps in the market. Seek out new opportunities and ideas for future business developments
  • Manage all activity in line with the Telegraph brand and that this is protected and represented in a consistent manner across all activity
Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong experience working in the online space, preferably in an eCommerce role
  • Excellent analytical skills – able to compile reports, identify patterns and building a case for change
  • Exceptional commercial acumen and very strong communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of web analytics tools such as Adobe or Google Analytics
  • Comfortable in working in a matrix organisation and a dynamic, high-pressure environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter, able to deliver in a timely manner, to a high standard and with minimal direction
  • Effective team player – able to build relationships and support across multiple teams
  • Attention to detail and a track record of executing continuous improvement without management oversight
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint is a must
  • Working knowledge of customer acquisition and retention models would be an advantage
  • Successful at working within and across multiple cultures
