Position Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Pattern Cutter to join our Product Development and Technical Services team here at our Head Office in South Shields. This role will be key to providing an all-encompassing service to our Design/Supply chain in the creation of CAD generated patterns and the development of sample garments. This role will assist in the supply of the product to meet the company requirements of quality and cost, all to agreed schedules and seasonal critical path dates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create accurate patterns on Gerber Accumark cad system from a design specification or garment.
  • To provide all pattern information required to make the sample garment, which is not included in the design spec. e.g. templates, garment make-up information, trim lengths etc.
  • To answer any query’s regarding the pattern from the Sample Cutter and Machinist’s.
  • Sample layplans to be produced and bulk average fabric ratings generated.
  • All ongoing information on pattern history, trim info and ratings to be recorded in an excel sheet.
  • Check sample garment and pattern against the sample machinist’s comments. Measure the sample garment and create a size chart in Quest P.D.M.
  • Inform Design/Technical teams of any amendments needed to the Spec/B.O.M.
  • Confirm the graded trim information and fabric ratings to the Technical teams.
  • Amend the pattern as and when required and maintain the fabric ratings/trim information in P.D.M.
  • Provide the pattern to the manufactures and answer query’s they may have.
  • Check the fit of garments with the design/technical managers and their Assistants.
  • Check accuracy of the pattern before grading.
  • Carry out other activities, as may be required by management, subject to suitable training being provided where necessary.
Skills and Experience:
  • Relevant qualification (E.g. Pattern Cutting)
  • Experience working in the clothing industry/sample room.
  • Experience of using C.A.D. workstations.
  • Competency in pattern cutting and grading techniques.
  • Garment construction and manufacturing knowledge.
  • Understanding of procedures within business of garment sampling and bulk production.
  • Understanding of factory processes.
  • Fit session approval.
  • Prioritising and organising own workload.
  • Working on your own initiative to a tight schedule.
  • Team working skills
  • P.C. skills in Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel, and Quest P.D.M.
  • Gerber Accumark cad software and hardware.
