Overall Job Purpose
The PR Director plays a pivotal role in shaping and telling the Vitality story, championing the brand across multiple audiences and safeguarding reputation.
The role sets the external communications strategy and advises the organisation, CEO and wider senior team on all aspects of external communication and reputation. The role specifically leads and manages media/PR, Vitality’s social media channels and plays a significant role in external content.
As a disruptor within the insurance market, Vitality faces a wide range of opportunities to have a greater impact on its members and society as it strives to deliver against its core purpose, to make people healthier and to enhance and protect their lives.
Define, develop and lead Vitality’s PR and wider external communications strategy to generate favourable coverage for the business
Lead an effective PR and social media team
Management of issues and reputational advisory to the business
Devise strategic communications for Vitality, delivering a coherent and compelling story across multiple channels
Provide sound counsel and expert advice on all aspects of communications, in particular media management and handling
Build and maintain external relationships with the media and other stakeholders to advance and support Vitality’s agenda
Develop and implement creative brand and product facing media and social campaigns to deliver against business objectives and priorities, that deliver against key metrics
Monitoring and evaluating campaigns and performance
Management of Vitality’s PR agencies, creating strong working relationships and managing KPIs
Management of a team of PR and social experts
Support business growth by proactively identifying and creating media, PR, social and content opportunities and campaigns that deliver against key metrics
Significant experience in a senior PR role in a complex organisation or agency
Track record in producing communication strategies for a business
Experience of leading and implementing diverse activities and aligning to strategic and operational priorities
Experienced in advising and providing counsel, with outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills
Excellent leadership skills, experienced in successfully managing and motivating a team to deliver creative and impactful campaigns
Expert media handler, highly experienced at crisis management
Excellent knowledge of current affairs and identifying potential areas of opportunity and reputational risk to the business
A track record of designing and implementing strategies that shift media narratives within the mainstream media and social arena
Experience in delivering integrated campaigns
Extensive experience in shaping and devising media and social strategies
Excellent writing skills with the ability to create engaging and compelling content
Understanding of social media platforms and creating content for multiple audiences
Experienced at speaking publicly and representing the organisation
