This is an exciting opportunity for a Production Coordinator to join the Arabic Hub. This position reports directly to the Production Manager but will also work closely with Senior Editors and assistant Editors within the Online and Online Video and Digital team. Based in London,BBC Arabic provides news, current affairs and programmes on radio, TV and online to Arabic speaking audiences in the Middle East and across the world, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The output is modern in style and outlook and adheres to BBC values of accuracy and impartiality. It has broad appeal, free from commercial, political and religious affiliations or pressures. BBC Arabic reaches a weekly audience of approximately 44 million across platforms and provides one quarter of output across the entire World Service. We are an innovative and forward thinking department which not only caters for MENA region but also has solid partnerships across the BBC and with external organisations.'
Role Responsibility This position reports directly to the Production Manager but will also work closely with Editors and the Online, Online Video and digital production teams.
You will be ensuring the effective and efficient management of resources, including staffing through the accurate recording of information, adhering to the guidelines, policy and budget within your own authorisation limits and escalating any risks and/or unresolved issues promptly. You will also be working closely with the Online teams based in Cairo, Beirut and Amman dealing with visas, duty trips and expenses.
Are you the right candidate?
  • Proven knowledge of the processes involved with engaging freelances and making smartbook payments.
  • Experience within an Online Digital environment and an interest in news in the Middle East.
  • Significant experience and knowledge of making payments to foreign countries using SAP.
  • Known recent experience of dealing with rotas, schedules and timesheets using systems such as Allocate, ScheduAll, Arena or Team Pay.
  • Proven experience of using Excel, Outlook, pivot tables and other Microsoft office applications is essential.
