Description

Closing Date: Monday 26th October.
We're looking for an experienced and multi-skilled Production Journalist to join our broadcast and digital news team at ITV Calendar.
This role will be based in our Hull office, or working from home in the East Yorkshire area, with good access to Hull. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated journalist with a passion for planning television and digital output. This role will predominantly be to plan for our Calendar South programme, working regular day shifts Monday to Friday, however there is also likely to be the opportunity to get out into the community to self-shoot stories, so camera skills would be an advantage.
Living and working in the patch, you'll have a good contacts list with links to the varied and diverse communities in the area. You'll also have the ability to drive original ideas for the programme covering Hull, South Yorkshire, East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. We're increasing our efforts to be more inclusive and representative of our whole region, and that starts with uncovering the stories with particular appeal to currently under-represented groups.
You will be able to show how you cope with a demanding workload, the ability to bring in ideas and have a clear understanding of how to get an agenda setting story to air.
You'll also be able to share strong examples of working to a tight deadline in remote conditions during the pandemic.
You'll have experience of television and digital news production and be able to create online content that enhances our reputation, and the engagement to go viral.
You will have excellent written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to demonstrate good working relationships with colleagues and external contacts. You will have good editorial judgement and social media skills and you’ll know what matters to people in the region. You will have qualified in media law and have a thorough understanding of the Ofcom Code.
So, if you have the journalistic skills that will help us achieve our goals, we’d love to hear from you.
Your application must include a covering letter outlining why you want this opportunity and what you will bring to our team.
Closing Date: Monday 26th October.
Interviews will be held on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th November.
ITV is committed to increasing the diversity of its workforce and we strongly encourage
applications from candidates from all backgrounds and as a Disability Confident employer we are committed to offer an interview to disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the role.
