Since Tate Modern opened in 2000, its programme of major temporary exhibitions, collection displays, commissions, live performance, and film has developed in diversity, scope and profile. In 2016 Tate Modern opened the Blavatnik Building increasing the scope and breadth of the exhibition and collection displays to support its ambitions to be the most artistically adventurous and culturally inclusive global art museum. The Tate Modern Curatorial Team ensures the highest standard of content and delivery of this programme.
This exciting new position offers the chance to lead, co-ordinate and manage the production and delivery for the annual Hyundai Commission in Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall. The Turbine Hall has hosted some of the world’s most memorable and acclaimed works of contemporary art and the way artists have interpreted this vast industrial space has revolutionised public perceptions of contemporary art in the twenty-first century.
As an experienced production manager with proven experience in the realisation of large scale artistic commissions and installations, you will manage all aspects of the commissions from advising on the practical feasibility of the project proposal, devising schedules, overseeing design process to the eventual fabrication, associated insurances, installation and deinstallation. You will ensure effective communication across Tate, manage the procurement of goods and services, manage and supervise external contractors as well as the budgetary planning and reporting.
You will have demonstrable experience of managing complex site-specific artistic commissions combined with proven project management skills with the flexibility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, influence and negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholders. You will have excellent budget and resource management skills as well as an understanding of Construction Design and Management (CDM) and relevant Health & Safety regulations.
This position is offered on a fixed-term contract until 30 April 2022.
