BBC Wales’ mission is to fire a nation’s imagination. As the nation’s most trusted and valued broadcaster, we exist to help audiences discover and make sense of Wales – and to champion the best talent and the boldest ideas for national and UK audiences. And we do all this on a canvas big enough to make a difference, not just to our audiences, but to Wales itself.
BBC Wales has recently completed a transformation project relocating to a new purpose-built broadcast headquarters in Central Square. Central Square is the home to around 1,000 staff and is the first BBC centre in the UK to use IP core for controlling cameras, TV editing and output. We have the most modern broadcast facilities in the UK, giving production teams enormous flexibility in how they produce productions.
The technology team provides support, services, software development and project management to all the teams in BBC Wales.
There are two Lead Architects in the technology team reporting to both the Head of Projects and the Senior Head of Tech & Op (Nations) providing clear advice and guidance on strategic changes to the infrastructure. Working with them are four Senior Architects.
Senior Architects will work to the direction of the Lead Architects, but they will have a specialist area in which they will operate, often working on projects or directly to the Senior Head of Tech & Op (Nations). The Architects will support each other to ensure that all design changes meet the needs of BBC Wales, whilst aligned to pan-BBC strategies. The roles will also ensure that all changes are value for money, deliverable and adhere to all quality thresholds.
