Senior Brand Manager for Penguin Classics, Penguin Press
Penguin Classics is one of the most famous and well-loved publishing brands in the world, with books spanning 4,000 years from The Epic of Gilgamesh to radical, agenda-setting writing from the 20 th century, like Audre Lorde and Nobel prize-winners, such as Svetlana Alexievich.
A temporary vacancy has arisen for an experienced marketer to become senior Brand Manager for Penguin Classics, helping to drive and implement the strategy and marketing activity for this iconic list.
You will work closely with our Marketing Director, Editorial and Sales teams to deliver the agreed strategy for the Penguin Classics brands as well as lead on key campaigns across Classics, as well as for brand authors on our contemporary non-fiction lists.
As well as overseeing advertising, newsletters and social media, you will take responsibility for Penguin Classics' presence in the consumer landscape - through retailers, partners, brand initiatives and online. Key projects include the Classics magazine The Happy Reader ; ongoing work on major author brands including John le Carre; and multi-strand campaigns for major series launches. The role also includes some management of team members.
With a background in marketing, brand or strategy, you will be entrepreneurial and commercially minded as well as discerning and creative. Experience managing brands is a great advantage. You will have outstanding communication, organizational and analytical skills as well as a razor-sharp business understanding.
You will be a relationship builder with the ability to influence opinion, galvanize others and engender trust throughout the company.
