Joining us as Senior International Communications Officer, you’ll play a key part in taking forward Penguin Random House’s International communications strategy. Working closely with retailers, distributors and overseas colleagues, you will be responsible for planning and executing campaigns to drive sales for our titles and also to build our Penguin Random House brand.
As part of our International Sales team, the role will be market-facing and driven by the needs of our customers and consumers. It will involve working imaginatively to design promotional material for both print and online, including catalogues, point of sale material and digital assets. With a particular focus on Asia, Middle East, Africa, US and Latin America, you will be responsible for developing a thorough understanding of your territories and looking for new promotional opportunities within them. Part of our strategy in these markets is to work with locally-based media, journalists, influencers and event organisers in order to spread our message effectively, so you may be called upon to help arrange author interviews, visits and events.
Whilst understanding the needs of your customers, you will balance these with the priorities of our varied publishing divisions, able to identify what’s most important and see that through to fruition. With direct marketing responsibility for three UK divisions (PRH Children’s, Penguin Press and Ebury), you will be integral to working with the UK teams and co-ordinating effective promotion of their titles across international markets.
Play a key role in shaping Penguin Random House’s international communications with lead responsibility for specific territories and divisions
Work creatively on campaigns across the breadth of Penguin Random House UK’s publishing
Bring market-specific knowledge back to the publishing divisions to help shape tailored communications campaigns
Work collaboratively with sales managers, distributors and customers to drive sales in a range of international markets
Solid communications experience with the ability to combine creativity and commerciality to conceive, execute and evaluate campaigns that drive book sales
An exposure to international customers and experience working in Asian, Middle Eastern or African markets would be beneficial, or a demonstrable ability to work flexibly and adaptably with a wide variety of partners and customers
Attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and a proven ability to work to deadlines under pressure are key, as is the ability to work creatively, as you’ll be juggling different projects and priorities at any one time
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are essential as you will be involved in regular meetings, both virtual and in-person, with customers and colleagues, and giving presentations
The role acts as a key liaison between international customers, sales managers and internal contacts so a proven ability to build strong relationships and work as part of a team is crucial
