The Role:

Reporting into the Senior Production Manager, the focus of this role is to oversee the day to day running of the ecom studio copy process. You will line manage one other Product Copywriter and together you will be responsible for writing creative, compelling descriptions for our New Look product pages.
Working across our women’s, men’s, accessories and 915 collections, it’s as close to the action as you can get (and great for getting ahead with your wishlist!). You’ll need to get to grips with our brand tone of voice and apply it to each product description you write, conveying who we are and what we stand for, as well the USPs of each item.You’ll also write SEO copy, so being a fast writer with an eye for spelling and grammar is a must. You should have a thorough knowledge of fashion terms, a good understanding of SEO and a high level of computer literacy as you’ll need to use spreadsheets and an ecommerce platform/CMS. You’ll be inputting product information daily and should be adept at adding fabric information, fit type, measurements and wash-care into the system.This role is for someone that is flexible with a can-do attitude.  It would suit someone with previous Senior experience or someone with exemplary E-commerce copy writing experience who is ready to step up into a more Senior role.


  • Responsible for contributing to the day-to-day running of the Copy team. This will primarily include product copy descriptions for New Look’s ecom product pages
  • Responsible for writing detailed product descriptions across the full range of New Look product covering women’s, men’s, accessories, homeware, footwear, tall, petite, curves, maternity and 915
  • Ensuring information is accurate, informative and consistent across the site
  • Research and make copy notes on samples handed over to be shot
  • Inputting all product information into the CMS, including wash care, product details, dimensions and keywords
  • Working to strict deadlines — all products allocated to you must be complete by the end of each working day
  • Awareness of SEO impacts on product descriptions and titles, working with the SEO team to ensure correct terms are used where applicable
  • Ensuring the New Look tone of voice is adhered to across all copy
  • Conduct keyword research to drive optimisation of copy
  • Writing search engine-optimised banner copy and meta copy
  • Ensuring creative quality, technical information, SLAs & KPIs are adhered to within the copy team
  • Proven excellent E-commerce copy writing experience
  • Exceptional multitasking ability with outstanding organisational skills; able to use initiative and to work in pressurised environment, consistently prioritising workload
  • Responsible for regulating and checking any relevant size, fit and care information fed from the BMD
  • Regularly contribute to creative work, including writing brand descriptions and category headers
  • The ability to work quickly and efficiently with a strong eye for detail and catching errors
  • Possess an excellent editorial understanding and visual awareness
  • Regularly sub-editing the site to ensure copy is free from errors and discrepancies
  • Possess excellent commercial, brand and technical awareness, while keeping up to date with current copy and e-commerce content trends
  • Working in conjunction with the rest of the Studios teams to ensure all product launch dates are met
  • The ability to upskill and train team members, new starters and freelancers on writing product descriptions and other role related requirements
  • Responsible for senior admin tasks including scheduling resource and KPI / SLA management
  • Keeping a copy style guide updated with new terms and descriptions
  • Act as a mentor to new starters and copywriters of all levels
  • Proficient in team time management, effectively delegating tasks to other team members
  • Work with the Senior Production Manager to identify opportunities to improve quality and efficiency
  • Encouraging team growth and development through objectives and training, ensuring the team are striving to support in the delivery of the department strategy
  • Strong communication and organisation skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise workload
  • Oversee sub-editing of all studio departmental content / presentations
  • Support HOS and Senior Production Manager on adhoc tasks outside of BAU

About You:

  • A minimum of a year’s relevant experience
  • English or similar Fashion/Communication at degree level
  • Knowledge of SEO
  • Confident communicator – friendly and approachable
  • Happy to take on any task
  • Experience in excellent time keeping and keeping to strict deadlines.
  • PC Literate Excel Word and PowerPoint
