Social Media & Marketing Intern

Opportunity type: Part-time, internship, six months
Hours: Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM – 6 PM
Salary: London Living Wage

About the Role

This role will focus on supporting the Communications Manager in executing the social media strategy and optimising the overall social media presence of The Mosaic Rooms. The role will require both creative and organisational skills, encompassing content creation, planning and scheduling, and compiling reports.
This is a weekend role (Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM – 6 PM) and you will be working in the gallery with the Gallery Assistant. It will require some cover of the gallery reception, bookshop and café.
Contact with the Communications Manager and rest of the team will be through email as they work Monday – Friday. This role will therefore require someone capable of working independently and managing their own schedule. The internship is a fixed term, part-time role, lasting six months. In return, we will offer a London Living Wage.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Communications Manager to develop a content plan for our social media and digital platforms, as well as website
  • Creating relevant and engaging content for The Mosaic Rooms’ organic and paid social media activity, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo, YouTube, SoundCloud and LinkedIn
  • Writing, creating, and posting content in accordance with the content plan
  • Creating original photo and video content
  • Sourcing and managing visual assets
  • Generating ideas to deepen engagement with members of the online art community
  • Planning, creating and scheduling daily content for Instagram, Facebook and Twitter
  • Creating original content to promote our events programme every week on social media
  • Assisting with additional content creation and copywriting for the website
  • Overseeing the social media budget and providing regular updates to the Communications Manager
  • Working actively on growing our social media following and widening engagement on a daily basis to reach monthly targets
  • Working together with Communications Manager to brainstorm new strategies to increase social media following and engagement
  • Opportunity to lead own initiatives and creative campaigns to develop our audience and drive traffic to our website and events bookings
  • Working with SEO and analytical tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search and other digital marketing tools to monitor web traffic and identify growth opportunities
  • Assisting with formulating a long-term SEO strategy by carrying out keyword, traffic, link analysis
  • Assisting with a long-term content marketing strategy to help grow our digital presence
  • Increasing audience awareness, engagement, and conversion

Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in communications and/or marketing is desirable
  • Strong interest and demonstrated knowledge in contemporary culture and art from the Arab world and beyond
  • Evidence of creating engaging digital content in both multimedia and written format
  • Strong knowledge of all social media platforms
  • Prior experience and understanding of digital marketing and analytics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent editing and proofreading abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation and time-management
  • Creative thinking and problem solving skills
  • Fluency with InDesign essential
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, photography and image editing required
  • Experience in communications in an arts-related organisation is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of MacOS, Microsoft Office, HootSuite and WordPress
  • Familiarity with Premier Pro and Illustrator are desired
  • Working knowledge in film editing software such as Final Cut Pro is desired
  • Working knowledge of digital and social media metrics and analytics

We do this through our free access contemporary art exhibitions, our multidisciplinary events, artist residencies and learning and engagement programme. We are a project of the A.M.
