The Telegraph Media Group are offering work experience opportunities, paid the London living wage, across our exciting and fast-paced commercial team. We have openings in Advertising Sales, Commercial Innovation, and our Client team.
The aim of work experience at the Telegraph Media Group is to give you exposure to, and a greater understanding of how the teams within our wider Commercial department operate. This includes shadowing members of the team, learning about different parts of the business, getting involved in projects and completing your own presentation. At heart, it’s a chance to gain real insight and to ask questions as part of your learning. Category team - The Category team liaise with marketing and media agency account leads at our largest advertising brands on a daily basis. The brands we work with span a diverse range of sectors from Travel, Luxury and Retail to Finance and Technology. We build long term relationships with those advertising clients and collaborate with other internal teams to ensure our clients are provided the Telegraph's best products and we grow our commercial potential with them all.
Ad Sales - We are responsible for liaising with major clients and advertising agencies to ensure their advertising and marketing needs are placed in the right context and reach the right target audiences across all Telegraph platforms and products. We fulfill specific client briefs by providing bespoke ideas and solutions, and building great relationships. This is a sales focused area.
Commercial Innovation - The commercial innovation team bring new revenue propositions and products to market across the commercial business, although our main focus is digital advertising. Our innovations include: increasing revenue from 3rd party platforms like Snapchat and Twitter; developing new advertising models for podcasts and newsletters; building new ad formats; making infrastructure changes to how we organise and monetise our 1st party data as a business; and advertiser metrics for success. Our biggest programme is “Monetising Reader First’ which centres around initiatives to improve the ad experience for readers, increase digital ad yield from logged in users and evolve the digital ad strategy within the ‘subscriber first’ principles of our business.
We are offering several one-week paid work placements. These placements are open to those from a lower socio-economic background, in order to encourage diverse talent from traditionally under-represented groups in this area.
To be considered for a placement you must be at least 18, an EEA resident with the right to work or train in the UK, and able to show a strong interest in working in media.
