AZEEMA is a print magazine, online platform, community and creative agency, exploring women and non-binary folk within West Asia, North Africa and South Asia, diasporas and BEYOND. Originally Founded by Jameela Elfaki (Of Sudanese/English heritage ) in 2017, AZEEMA has grown into a positive cultural force with a, talented, diverse team and incredible international community. AZEEMA is an Arabic name meaning: determination, resoluteness, firmness of purpose and strength. It’s short definition: brave, strong and courageous. AZEEMA fills a gap that’s been left empty and neglected for far too long. Our vision for AZEEMA is a simple one: to keep challenging western constructs and celebrating our existence through different creative channels. We amplify the voices of our community through our online platform and print magazine, we give our community access to experiment and learn new skills through our workshops and events. We create cultural and visual magic with our creative agency. We celebrate, connect and party in style with AZEEMA FM. We pride ourselves in challenging and confronting issues surrounding representation, by creating a space that is inclusive and celebratory of our different cultures and beliefs. This is a grassroots platform built from the ground up and run by the community for the community.
