About

BORN N BREAD is a South London-based creative collective founded in 2014, made up of five Black female DJs, radio hosts, educators, and cultural curators facilitating and programming workshops across art, music, and educational events, globally. Having been supported by grassroots community programmes growing up in London, they founded the collective to amplify the voices of black women in creative spaces. Their journey started from the success of their self-produced fanzine; which centered around telling their story of growing up in London as children of immigrant parents from west Africa. The zine focused on stories that spotlighted emerging talent from the African diaspora. They focused on highlighting innovative Black creatives who were achieving exceptional things within the creative world of music, fashion, film, and art. It was a celebration of young Black talent. Since the inception of their collective, they have worked on curating and facilitating events in collaboration with the world's most prestigious organisations, such as Tate Modern, Victoria & Albert Museum, Black Girl Fest, The Royal Art Museum, gal-dem, and the ICA. Ensuring that creating spaces for POC is at the forefront for them to access employment and connections with experienced professionals actively working in community spaces across the arts, music, and film. They have experience curating events and programs independently as well as with brands and consultants. As a collective, they have teamed with brands creating content and events with brands such as Nike, Adidas, Monki, H&M, SoHo House, The Curtain, and many more. DJs, radio hosts, curators, and content creators as well as self-publishers of sold-out zines cements BORN N BREAD are a group of multitalented artists.
