MURUGIAH grew up in the wilds of South Wales, the natural landscapes of which have entwined themselves within his work today. He always wanted to be an artist, but under the influence of his Sri Lankan parents he moved to London to pursue architecture. Architecture wasn’t for him, but the cosmopolitan, contradictory cacophony of the city was, and was a big influence on his art, through which he explore dual identities, mental health and love of cinema! his art seeks to dismantle boundaries and is characterised by distinct line work, working with inspiration from surrealism, popular culture & his South Asian roots. he is a self-taught artist, working professionally as such since 2012 across digital and analog mediums.. In that time he has had the privilege of working with many great clients including Apple, Facebook, Time Out and many more. MURUGIAH considerS himself a pop-surrealist, looking to put my own British Asian spin on the style. He loves the dichotomy of urban and natural environments; organic shapes weave themselves into his work without him even noticing. MURUGIAH has produced artwork for Apple, Facebook, Time Out, Wellcome Collection, The Guardian, Variety, Penguin Random House, Laurence King Publishing, Greenpeace, Shortlist, New Scientist, Little White Lies, Empire, Arrow Films, Disney, Lucasfilm, EMI and AMC.
