Pattern Cutting Deconstructed

Providing beautifully designed learning resources

About

The brainchild of Monisola Omotoso, Pattern Cutting Deconstructed was conceived as the go-to platform for fashion creatives who want to learn dressmaking pattern skills in an accessible, fun way. Our mission is to educate budding pattern cutters everywhere. Our members are fashion creators from varied backgrounds, students, home dressmakers, tailors and hobbyists. Our aim is to inspire people to embark on a me-made journey. The new thinking in the fashion makers community is to reject the popular buy, buy, buy mentality for something altogether more sustainable, worthwhile and crafted. Our first Cut & Spread® Pattern Making Kit offers a stress-free approach that lets learners develop the skills and techniques to create well-fitted garments. Each kit includes : • A bodice block pattern in sizes 6 - 20 • A half-scale block pattern • Full instructions for 6 styles: 2 x Beginners, 2 x Intermediate, 2 x Confident  • PAPTIC® Trace & Sew paper • Calico, (for toiling the block) • Six - seven learning outcomes per level Moni is a multi-talented creative in the apparel industry, and has enjoyed a long and varied career. She started her journey as an own-brand designer/pattern cutter selling in prestigious stores such as Barney's NY, Harrods, Paul Smith, Browns Focus and throughout Japan. She then went on to qualify with a PGCE in 2012 and taught at institutions such as the Royal College of Art, Central Saint Martins, Morley College and the London College of Fashion until 2016. Lately she worked for two years as a fashion writer for a popular on-line platform. Her work as a fashion consultant for fashion start-ups saw her developing hardware, designing and pattern cutting for accessories and developing patterns for ladies wear. Her passion for pattern cutting was the starting point for the pattern cutting deconstructed platform.
