86

This project is a comment on the value of art and craft, the project began through my experimentation into the fragility of porcelain and its changing of state during the firing process. The process used balloon dip casting to create the minimum wall thickness possible. The fragility means that the only way to transport these is packed in sand, this created a new problem to solve. the solution was to create bespoke packaging that created an engaging experience when opening the casing. The works I created are a limited edition of 86 extremely fragile one off pieces, that over time, as the majority break, the value of the remaining editions will increase. This was an interesting area to research and has increased my curiosity into the relationship between craft, production and consumer.
