A Broken Embrace - Burning Man Arts Festival Honoraria Submission

Each year the Burning Man Arts Council offers grants of up to $25,000 to 70 artistic proposals which they believe would have an exciting and memorable impact on the playa. Having submitted my proposal for a 30ft. tall architectural sculpture I was fortunate enough to be invited to the final round of judging which involved detailed cost estimates and the production of technical design drawings. Unfortunately the project was unsuccessful, however it was exciting to develop the project and I discovered a lot about myself along the way. The project addressed Burning Man’s 2019 theme of ‘Metamorphosis’ by proposing an architectural sculpture which would operate as a sacred space of contemplation in the desert.
