In my third year I decided to try something different, something I had been interested in for a while, trend forecasting and colour. Therefore instead of a capsule clothing collection I created a book for New Zealand designers, marketers, and businesses.
Ideally “A Little Book for Design” would be a local seasonally produced Trend Book for the New Zealand Fashion and Product industry. The book has suggestions for what can be currently relevant in the local market, and provides insight for overseas businesses as well. I spent a lot of time collaborating with a number of different people, photographers, graphic designers, fashion designers, and general businesses. Majority of my research came from observations of people in certain areas, I would sit down and take notes, drawings, and photos for content - as I thought it was more authentic and stayed true to the philosophy of the book’s and it’s perspective.
Primary is influenced by art and pieces that are handmade - things that are irregular and raw yet exquisite and creates intrigue.
Dew focuses on the natural form and shape through the handling of materials - organic structure and comfortable aesthetic.
Aethere is poetic and romantic - it’s femininity and loose structure can create a ephemeral innocence
Alpha works in a very moody and masculine manner - it is heavy, thick and has a dark sense of humor. It is more exclusive and takes its whiskey straight.
Abyss is about the nostalgic feel of a worn garment - the aged aesthetic brings a charming characteristic to work wear, the holes, the pulls, the rough texture and molds to your shoulders and elbows.
