A moment before it was gone

  • Rebecca Moyse
Rebecca establishes a feeling of isolation within her images. She achieves this by creating a void; each image contains dark blues and blacks that surround the subject and constructs a coldness within a scene. Rebecca wants her viewers to be able to fully immerse themselves in her images and escape reality. She not only looks at vast landscapes, but also uses portraits to construct a narrative. The dark visual elements have been influenced by the work of Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch and TV programmes such as Bates Motel. These artist forms characters/narratives within their work that present a view that is unexpected for the audiences and makes them feel uncomfortable. The aim of Rebecca’s images is to create a cinemagraphic image that will make the viewer question the image and make them feel awkward. Rebecca enjoys working on location, rather than working within the studio as this gives her the freedom to explore different locations that could later craft a scene for an individual story.
