A Perfect Place

A Perfect Place was the brief set by ThinkBDW, a Colchester based design firm that concentrates on high end property marketing. Often creating a brochure for a property that has yet to be built, the challenge of the brief was to create a multi occupancy property that appeals to our chosen demographic.

My response is The Spindle. A fictitious building located on the Ipswich Waterfront, the history of the building is that it was once a sewing factory called Bowman & Sons. Renovated for 2016, the property is ideal for first time home owners that work in London but commute from Ipswich. It allows the freedom of home while still being close to family and local friends. A unique feature of The Spindle is the cafe on the first floor that can provide that much needed morning coffee for the walk to Ipswich Rail.

The cover features blind embossing which I created by laser cutting a template onto acrylic and using a 17th century etching press to press the paper into the recesses. The brochure also features a sewn floorpan as well as thread coming out of the photographs on the first and last spread. My handmade brochure consists of primarily self generated images as per the requirements of the brief with only 5 images sourced from the web.
