Abstract Type

Abstract type is my first take on the instagram challenge 36 days of type. This inventive, decorative alphabet was constructed using shapes, primary colours and lines, inspired by the abstract movement and some of its representatives such as Alexander Calder, Bridget Riley, Wassily Kandinsky and El Lissitzky. My objective was to create significantly different letterforms every day, which were held together as an alphabet by the use of colour, repetition and basic shapes. I drew inspiration from existing typefaces, combined them with others, traced them using shapes, multiplied or reduced them. I am incredibly happy to have been featured on the instagram page of 36 days of type with my letter “i”.
