University final year project. A film adaptation of Lian Hearn's 'Across the Nightingale Floor'.
Project involved creating a theme for the entire cast (of a certain section of the novel) including extras etc. The final creation was a costume for the character of Shirakawa Kaede, a betrothal gown. The theme for the production was the clash of traditional and new cultures in the novel, so the decision was made to use traditional shapes and patterns, but mix that with modern materials and techniques, such as the machine embroidery.
Currently the only photos I have are of the project when it was unfinished.
