As her sister B finished her charming yet tuneless rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’, Margot made her wish.
But it wasn’t a happy wish. It was sad, lonely and friendless.
She wished that for one day, one hour, or even one minute, that her love would stop for someone who clearly had no love for her.
And as her eyes welled up with tears, on what should be her favourite day, she knew it was the one wish that could never come true.
