Redesigning the most comprehensive Linux enterprise subscription.

  • Mercedes Alonso

Ubuntu Advantage is the most comprehensive Linux enterprise subscription. UA Infra covers all aspects of open infrastructure. UA Apps expands security updates for the universe of open source and UA Desktop provides all-in-one coverage for desktop machines. The existing UA subscription journey wasn’t meeting their customers’ needs, nor was it conveying the company’s tech-driven approach effectively. A more cohesive experience across the journey with a focus on UX copy and visuals was needed to capture the attention of the desired customers. Working collaboratively in a squad of three members (UX, UI + Dev), we redefined the user journey and navigation, payment dialog, presentation of products capabilities and setup.

User profiles:

#1. A CTO/CIO who’s willing and able to buy UA themselves.
#2. A small-business owner who’d benefit from UA, but doesn’t know much about Ubuntu and doesn’t understand the benefits.
#3. An Ubuntu advocate within an organisation, who wants to (for example) send a price/quote for a specific plan to their boss.
#4. Someone just looking for an answer to their Ubuntu problem, who should realise they’re in the wrong place rather than trying to create an account for “support” and then getting frustrated.
All design work was produced using Vanilla Framework, a simple extensible CSS framework written in Sass by the Ubuntu Web Team.
