An Embodied Sea of Blue

  • Erin Sheehan
My dissertation focused on the complex embodied experiences of fans, whose stories were told in their worn jerseys. It's intention was to bridge a gap between what was known by embodied hockey fans and the writings about them and their experiences with jerseys. Being a live action version of Roch Carrier's 'The Hockey Sweater' LCF Phd student Sara Chong Kwan's loose interpretation of Yale professor Jules Prown's object analysis was used, bringing importance to the stories of the fan who wore the garment. The project also examined episodes of Full House and Hockey Night in Canada along with other primary sources such as Toronto Maple Leafs Christmas Cards that were found in the Hockey Hall of Fame archive.
