A project about an obsession with flowers.

The floral theme as been a continuous trend within the fashion industry and hugely popular within our history where men and woman assigned a significance to different flowers. This can be found within Egyptian inscriptions, Chinese writings and in Greek and Roman Mythology.

The Victorian era also used flowers. This was convey their feelings to one another as this was frowned upon. Every flower has a meaning or symbol which helped them understand what the sender's feelings were towards them. The chrysanthemum for example has the symbolism of joy and the Gladiolus, strength of character. There are many other meanings such as love, friendship and perseverance. Such flowers and their meanings can be found within a floral dictionary written by a Victorian Lady named Miss Corruthers of Inverness.
