Anything That Is Visible

“Anything That Is Visible” is collaborative piece of work constructed by artists Kirsty Macleod, Malcolm O’Connell and myself for our MA/MFA Curatorial Project Space brief. Instructed to use a small empty space located in ECA to stage a show we, as a group, decided to create a brand new body of work to utilise the space and bring our highly differing working practices together into a cohesive body of work.

A ladder constructed of oak and copper stood offset and lit in the middle of the room. Unusable and decorative yet a mimicry of a functional object, the sculpture lead to nothing but an invisible fictional object of which the ladder was all that remained. As the ladder is dead as an object of function and merely a prop of desire the only interaction with the subject matter in a tangible sense is the accompanying iPad app. Acting as a parable for the object in stasis the app explains and obscures the nature of the ladder.

Both collaborating artists are cracking in their own right so give them a good look also.
