'Aphrodisia', is a series of photographs exploring the sexual interpretation of objects. In this case, aphrodisiacs. An aphrodisiac is essentially a substance that arouses a persons sexual appetite, through ingestion or inhalation. The word itself is a reference to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love. Interestingly, the effects of certain aphrodisiacs have been supported, but scientific research, whilst others still remain a figment of the imagination. The relationship between the object and sex is an intriguing one, as the interpration we give to a seemingly idle object then becomes the carrier of that meaning; be that real or imaginary.
