Après l'orage (Photo Art)

Après l’orage Series: During a storm, a time of extreme tension, the sky erupts, the air generates a special kind of electricity, and we are left in awe of thunder, mighty, powerful, majestic. After the storm, that fleeting moment where the sky breaks up into a weird and wonderful mixture of clouds and colours like glitches in a digital Image, charged particles that compose the storm as pixels compose the digital photograph, we feel the effect the storm has on clearing the air and suddenly reducing atmospheric tension and filling our lungs in the aftermath of a cleansing rain. A period of clarity and fresh opportunity follows after a thunderstorm as if the rain of forgiveness washes the human landscape clean after an intense time of enmity and error and great clarity of purpose and renewed vigour can follow the healing of old wounds. Deliverance is at hand, breathing a sigh of relief we make a clean sweep of the past, and move deliberately to forgive, to forget. Images were taken at the moment a storm passed, in the evening light throughout a period of 5 years, the Images were put through editing software to reveal the pixels, noise and artefacts that usually are too small for the human eye to detect unless enlarged. This effects are intended to emulate spectral errors and distortions caused by sensors, sun angle, topography and the atmosphere which result in missing or defective data along a scan line and in doing so Tanausu shows that where there are glitches and Image artefacts as visual manifestations of an unexpected malfunction in source code or other technology, it can also be artistically exploited in the name of expression, reinterpreting photography for the digital age.
