Architecture in Schools: Primary

  • Olivia Ladanyi
Architecture in Schools: Primary equips primary school pupils aged 8-11 with creative skills that support learning in and out of the classroom. Working in partnership with architects and engineers from award-winning practices and firms, participants respond to an original design brief. As inspiration for their own designs, the Key Stage 2 pupils visit key pieces of exemplary contemporary architecture, providing them with direct experience of good design. Architecture in Schools also engages teachers with key issues about the spaces that surround us and equips them with the techniques to continue to use the built environment as an effective learning tool. My role as Project Coordinator throughout the 2016 programme saw me in charge of process from start to finish; from marketing the programme to schools and high-level sponsors, to curating the workshops and sharing them on social media, to writing press releases and organising the awards ceremony.
