Archive Project

Nofit State is a contemporary circus that has been based in Cardiff for almost 30 years. As well as touring professional shows worldwide the company remains rooted in the community through a range of class’s and community initiatives and activities. Nofit State started as a group of 5 youthful jugglers, busking for a living and named ‘Ball’s Up Jugglers’ and have grown to be the leading contemporary circus in the UK employing over 30 people. In 2014 the company was awarded a Heritage Lottery Fund Grant to archive the history of the company. This will be a yearlong project and will result in a new online digital archive and website, and exhibition at our base in Four Elms.
Historically NoFit State has always worked with large sections of the local community to engage them directly in performance and production projects. This project however will create a new way to engage with the company, by moving away from performance skills and offering archiving, collection and digitising roles to engage with a different section of the community.
The idea of the project is that people with very varied interests, skills and knowledge will find something enjoyable, beneficial or both through working with us on this project.
