ARMOURED: MY FIRST WEARABLE COLLECTION

  • Phaedra Dickson

'ARMOURED: My First Wearable Collection' is a small series of necklace designs, inspired by a visit to the Leeds Royal Armouries Museum in October of 2019. The pieces are influenced by the shapes and structures found in both armour and chainmail, which were deconstructed into geometric patterns for laser cutting. Each design is built up in complex layers, evolving into statement yet feminine designs. This project holds a special place in my heart. It was the one that ignited my love for creating wearable body adornment and jewellery. It was the first time I pushed myself to work in unknown ways, and challenge myself to construct finished designs that could be worn on the human form, rather than developmental samples.
