Arsene Wenger Vs Unai Emery
The thought of Arsene Wenger returning to Arsenal to some may sound absolutely ludicrous I know, but hear me out. Unai's gunners have certainly not started their 19/20 campaign as well as they would've hoped for, their wretched away form is woeful and doesn't seem to be getting any better as their last 10 away games they've only managed to pick up a total of 11 points from a possible 30 and their latest defeat at Bramall Lane to Sheffield United has been the icing on the cake for the #EmeryOut campaign.
While it seems extremely farfetched to think that the 70 year-old frenchman will return to the gunners, I'm merely suggesting a little food for thought. Wenger's demise at Arsenal was predominantly down to various injury crisis's, a shortage of financial backing in transfer windows and being forced to play the beast which is Mohammed Elneny in midfield. So it's not unfair to suggest that since Raul Sanhelli & Edu's appointment to Arsenal's board in the summer was everything Wenger needed during the latter stages of his time at the club. The signings of Nicolas Pepe, William Saliba & Gabriel Martinelli plus many more with an estimated budget of £40million was nothing short of the best business conducted within the Premier League this summer.
With the latest incident of Granit Xhaka being stripped of captaincy after only one month with the armband had been appointed and after his antics against Crystal Palace in their 2-2 draw at the Emirates to him shows the lack of control Emery has over his players. Arsenal fans growing quickly impatient with Unai's ever evolving starting XI which seems to have multiple players playing outside of their favored position summarises Emery's confused start to the 2019/20 campaign.
What I'm suggesting is, that in retrospective both Emery & Wenger hold qualities that the other desire; Emery has received the financial backing that Arsene Wenger was desperate for and Wenger has the system & tactics which Emery urgently needs to resurrect this Arsenal team.
