Recently Durat sponsored us by donating several of their sheets of post industrial plastic to make an art fabrication. Here we have designed and made a sculptural interpretation of a Fernand Leger painting titled ‘Three women’ made in 1926. Durat is a specialised, unique solid surface material which contains post industrial plastics and is 100% recyclable. Fernand Leger was interested in using his urban environment as a reoccurring theme in his paintings, often contrasting the mechanical and the natural. We hoped that by machine cutting the forms from the painting, using this post industrial material would be a modern echo of Legers inspiration.
