Artist’s Book

“...and what is the use of a book,” thought Alice, “without pictures or conversation?” Alice’s adventures in Wonderland- Lewis Carroll 1865. Innovations in mainstream publishing coincide with an upsurge in the production of book art, book works and artists’ books, many of which are either unique or available only in limited editions. With the aid of evolving printing and binding technologies, book publishers are able to produce visually rich and innovative mass-produced publications of a high technical quality. I was asked to design an artists book, told to choose an artist/architect/writer and create a graphic treatment for the book showing both a visual and intellectual interpretation of the subject matter. Artist I chose was Tim Burton.
