ATLANTIS S/S 18

While spending my summer in the island of Santorini in southern Greece I came across a unique and rare rock that is usually found near volcanoes, a pumice rock. The rock is porous and soft which makes it easy to manipulate it in different sizes ad shapes. The discovery of this rock made me look into the past and history of Santorini which led me to one of the myths surrounding the island describing it as the lost city of Atlantis that was destroyed after a volcanic eruption. My final collection is inspired by the lost city of Atlantis. I am designing and creating products which are addressed to a modern Atlantis woman. My main strong connection point to the island of Santorini therefore Atlantis is the pumice rock which I am using in some of my final pieces. The main materials I am using are leather and leather alternative , cooper, resin, yarn, some soft earthy fabrics and the rocks. I am using the resin as a way to preserve the rocks and the rose gold leafs, in that way I am trying to preserve the spirit and history of Atlantis alive.
