Personal Project: When industralisation revolutionised all consumer goods and made them become more functional and less decorated, the heirs of the Romantics pursued a return to ornamental tradition: celebrating craftmanship isnpired by natural elements. Figures like William Morris and Charles Rennie Mackintosh with their Arts & Crafts nurtured artists like the British Aubrey Beardsley. He was the illustrator who will always be remembered for his drawings in the original edition of Oscar Wilde’s play ‘Salomé’(1894).This images and his universe is what this footwear collection is inspired by.
