Banana Yoshimoto Re-design

  • Geoffrey Bunting

Banana Yoshimoto rose to prominence in 1988 with her novel Kitchen, a meditation on grief and food. Her writing is marked with themes of grieving, sexuality, and the surreal detachment found in many contemporary Japanese authors. In a break between major projects, I set out a re-design of her novels Kitchen and Goodbye, Tsugumi which turned into a much larger project, encompassing most of, if not all, her fiction catalogue.
