The Bandung Art Library was a proposal for Architecture’s Final Project at Parahyangan Catholic University. The site was located in a downtown area at Bandung, and surrounded by various academic platforms such as schools and universities. This potential was utilised by the development of a library with a specified ‘art’ focus, as a mean of providing innovative building functions within the city’s urban sector. This unique function was a form of support for Bandung’s vision of becoming an art-friendly city in the future.

One of the key points in this proposal is the sustainable aspect of the whole building and environment design, which was based on energy-saving methods. By utilising the surrounding potentials, the energy load and maintenance fee was reduced. The application of this concept is divided into active and passive systems in the design. The integration of a distinctive function within the city’s fabric, unique architectural design and sustainable concepts drew attention from the panel of international judges in the awarding process.
