Occupying the historic building that once held Bergen’s stock exchange, the 127-bedroom hotel is a marriage of history and modernity, care of architects and designers Claesson Koivisto Rune, who have taken the best of its 19th-century past and blended it with sleek and restrained contemporary style. Combining tactile natural materials, an interior design language inspired by the motifs of tailoring and a soothing simple colour palette, the hotel has an air of timeless, unshowy elegance and a soupçon of engaging eccentricity.
