In the lead up to the 2013 Quicksilver Pro on the Gold Coast, Captiv8 was approached by MediaCom to come up with a unique solution to integrate members of the public and their brand inside the unique Berocca Bubble. The brief was to give members of the public the chance to catch the perfect wave, whilst also increasing Berocca’s social presence on Facebook.
To do this, we created a matrix-style camera array using 47 DSLR cameras, with shareable video being fed through a tailor made Berocca Twist N Go Facebook app. The process involved figuring out how to capture users information, taking their photo as a form of file recognition, automatically grading and cutting together the videos after they had been shot and then finally sending them out to Berocca’s Facebook page.
Role: Lead designer, initial concepts & research, Facebook app design, iPad registration app design, video treatment & animation, display ads (design direction & production)
Results: In 3 days we managed to capture more than 600 groups of people, received 20,000 page views with an average of 3 minutes spent on the website and achieved a final viral reach of 80,000+ people.
