Big Oma

When Axel Enthoven from Yellow Window asked me to choose one of his designs for an artwork that could be used for his book I was immediately drawn to the Big Oma chair. I just knew that this was the right item for me to work with. It was only when he said that he doesn't need me to elevate his work to look beautiful, but actually chose me because of my style, that I really started thinking about what this chair actually meant to me. Big Oma, a Luxurious eyecatcher by the hand of Axel Enthoven. She encompasses the ultimate show of richness. A massive black leather-bound chair in which you can relax like the Gods on the clouds above Mt. Olympus. One among the many items so luxurious that everyone would be in total awe if they saw it in your living room. Spectators would be orgasmic about what you have brought into your house. Luxury is a show, much like an erotic dance. People enjoy looking at one's success. All those luxurious items and materials have gained so much popularity that they have become objects of desire; fetishes. This chair has been looked at as such an object it could very well feel violated or has literally served its purpose as the very target of people's voyeuristic behaviourism.
