Birmingham Literature Festival: How Publishing Works

In October 2020, I co-hosted a two-hour workshop, 'How Publishing Works', for Birmingham Literature Festival. Alongside Silé Edwards, Agent at leading UK literary agency, Mushens Entertainment, our workshop offered tips and behind-the-scenes insights of the book world. From the writing process to the bookshelf, this workshop sought to demystify the world of publishing including the process of finding the right agent and publisher. We talked through the publishing process, from idea stage to publication and beyond and provide insight into how the different areas of the publishing industry come together to create a book. This consisted of a 45-minute interactive presentation, followed by an interview segment and Q&A session. The University of Birmingham funded 4 A2B students to attend.
