Wine tasting, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, fine dining and a wedding anniversary
Next we arrived at the wonderful Château La Corne, an organic vineyard located 45 mins outside of Bordeaux with an Airbnb guest suite that was to be our base for the next 3 nights of the trip.
Steve and Diana were our fabulous hosts. Their story also greatly inspired us and their advice guided us. We enjoyed a fascinating tour of their minimally farmed vineyard and tasting their delicious wines, which we loved so much that we bought 6 cases!
We viewed another property from here which also wasn’t for us, but did help develop an understanding of what we didn’t want.
After returning from our ‘day off’ in Angouleme for our Wedding Anniversary and that fabulous lunch in Cokotte, we dined at the dazzling ‘Adèle X Darroze’ restaurant within the spectacular Château Malromé (see below) which used to be the home of Toulouse-Lautrec’s mother. This was where he retreated to from his Parisian artist’s life, for summer retreats to paint and draw in the countryside. He also spent his last days there.
