Book Cover Design

The material for the contents of this book came to the west in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, but originated in ancient China centuries before. The cover needed to portray a mid-20th century feel, but also hint at the idea of ancient. For this project, the cover design and palette form a base for a minimal and simplistic style, reminiscent of the 1950s and '60s, intended to give the sense of a slightly modernized retro feel. The layout of the cover elements follows the golden ratio principle. I recoloured the final design to give the impression of refined quality.
