Brighton People’s Theatre is a public arts organisation dedicated to breaking down barriers. Its aim is to transform the way we make theatre and how we tell our stories, and its ultimate goal is simple: theatre for all, theatre without boundaries. We were invited to help this amazing organisation to grow its reach, engage with new audiences and deepen its impact. We proposed a copy-led approach, where clarity was paramount. Working with copywriter Katy Hiles, we stripped away the art-speak often associated with cultural brands, designing a flexible typographic system where individual letters from the organisation’s name are used to create dynamic, expressive words and phrases. Through flexible brand guidelines and a full website rebuild, Brighton People’s Theatre now have the tools to invite audiences to join in workshops, see shows, meet people and make some magnificent theatre.
